The Examinations Committee of the Board of Directors of Drugless Therapy – Naturopathy (BDDT-N) is responsible for administration of the qualifying examinations for Naturopathic Doctor candidates in the province of Ontario.
Since 1991, the BDDT-N has used the Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Examinations (NPLEX), as well as the NPLEX Add-on exam in Acupuncture. The NPLEX are administered by the North American Board of Naturopathic Examiners (NABNE). Successful completion of the NPLEX exams is required by all regulated/licensed jurisdictions in North America.
In addition, the BDDT-N requires candidates to pass the Ontario Board Examinations which are administered by the BDDT-N. The Ontario Board Exams consist of the Ontario Jurisprudence (written) exam and three practical exams in Acupuncture, Instrumentation/Physical Exam and Naturopathic Manipulation. The Ontario Board Examinations are held twice each year, in February and August. Further details and application requirements for these exams can be found in the Guidelines for Candidates Preparing for the Ontario Board Examination booklet.
The August 2015 entry-to-practice exams will be conducted by the transitional Council of the College of Naturopaths of Ontario. For additional information regarding this exam, please review the Ontario Clinical Examinations Handbook.
